This concept for the kitchen philosophy was already in the mind of Sonja Salzano more than 25 years ago. When building the SPA area in 2013, she wanted to finally realize her long-standing dream. The whole family has also invested a lot of heart and soul in the alpine SPA area. A lot of wood, also old wood, natural materials, stones, hay, pine, grain, herbs, warm calm colours and many small details characterise our Salzano SPA. Every little detail, every shade of colour comes from our hand.
So it was obvious to go in the same direction with the kitchen. Tangible nature and tranquility in the SPA and culinary on the plate. The echo from our regular guests was more than positive – no, they really encouraged us to continue. You have a desire for nature, which is(s)tangible in the meal

The Piccolo Bar
Enjoy convivial moments with friends over a fine cocktail or a cool, freshly tapped beer on tap. The “Piccolo Bar” is a cosy meeting place for an aperitif, to get in the mood for dinner or for a Rugenbräu whisky as a digestif. Let an eventful day in the Bernese Oberland come to an end here with a nightcap.
From November, we will be expanding our Piccolo Bar into a modern lobby with a trendy bar. A place to linger and enjoy cool drinks, fine wines and delicious cocktails – a style that suits our hotel perfectly. This new facility will impress with a generous window front and a breathtaking view of the majestic north face of the Eiger.
We are pleased to give you a foretaste of this exciting change now. As always, the Salzano family is responsible for every detail of the design. Drawing ideas, collages, discussing until it’s no longer possible, discarding again, then changing again… update 30.11.2023 and yes, sometimes things go differently than you think, the outdoor area is under construction, excavators and construction machines have been at work since the beginning of November. But unfortunately the bar won’t be finished this year, it will take a little longer and we have a little more breathing space, which we urgently need. Nevertheless, the anticipation is great and as the saying goes: “Good things take time”

For over twenty-five years, the Salzano family has been offering “nature-based experiential cuisine” in their charming, successful hotel. Jan-Philipp Wesemann (ex-“Rico’s”, Küsnacht), who replaced Stephan Koltes, has been responsible for this since recently. His small brigade sends from the kitchen not only a sophisticated menu with up to seven courses, but also a la carte dishes. A glance at the clock shows that this stresses the team to the limit: almost five hours for a dinner is quite an experience.
